What a first 6 months it has been for Baby Broadway!
We launched in May with a fantastic Charity Gala event in Stoke Newington in aid of The British Lung Foundation and Cancer Research UK. The concert was a massive success, with the Old Church in Stoke Newington packed to the rafters with little ones, adults and pushchairs! There were over sixty adult audience members, and many more little ones and we raised over £1,000 for our chosen charities.
Our four fab singers, John Addison, Robine Landi, Kirsty Malpass and Tom Steedon did a brilliant job accompanied by Musical Supervisor and pianist extraordinaire, Ben Frost (also a composer of musicals in his own right: www.frostandhough.com).
The 45 minute concert whizzed by, bursting full of songs from the shows that enthralled our audience members of all ages. Things got off to a well-known start with ‘Do-Re-Mi’ from The Sound of Music – in safe hands with Kirsty who recently played Maria in the UK Tour. The show continued with favourites from My Fair Lady, The Wizard of Oz, The Lion King and Mary Poppins to name just a few – finishing with, of course, our medley of songs from Disney’s super-hit Frozen!
Thanks again to everyone who came along, and to those who bought tickets to our Charity Prize Draw, we hope those lucky winners have enjoyed their prizes! It was a wonderful event and the perfect way to launch Baby Broadway into the world.
Since our May event we have held concerts over the summer in Highgate and Balham, and with four more dates coming up in Dalston, Sydenham, Epsom and our return to the Old Church in Stoke Newington – the Autumn promises to be an exciting time for all Broadway Babies out there!
